Wheel alignment in Kamloops

Updated

What is a wheel alignment?

A wheel alignment adjusts the angles of your wheels (camber, caster and toe) back to your vehicle manufacturer's specification, so the car drives straight, the steering wheel sits centred and the tires wear evenly. At LSG Auto Nation in Kamloops, we check the steering and suspension parts first, then align the wheels. Walk-ins are welcome, and same-day service is available.

How we can help

  • Wheel alignment check and adjustment

We measure camber, caster and toe at each wheel, compare the readings with your manufacturer's specification and adjust anything that's out. You get a printout of the before and after readings, so you can see exactly what changed.

  • Alignment with new tires

New tires last longer on properly aligned wheels. If your old tires wore unevenly, an alignment when the new set goes on stops the same wear pattern from starting again. As tire specialists, we can take care of both in one visit.

  • Alignment after suspension or steering repairs

Replacing tie rods, ball joints, control arms or struts changes the wheel angles, so an alignment should follow. We check the steering and suspension parts first, because worn parts can't hold an alignment.

  • Alignment after a pothole or curb strike

A hard hit on a pothole or curb can knock the wheels out of alignment or bend a part. If the car pulls or the steering wheel is off-centre afterwards, have it checked before your tires start wearing unevenly.

Wheel Alignment FAQ

How often should I get a wheel alignment?

Have it checked about once a year, whenever you get new tires, and after any suspension or steering repair or a hard hit on a pothole or curb. Your owner's manual may also give a specific interval.

How long does a wheel alignment take?

Often under an hour, as long as no worn parts need replacing first. Walk-ins are welcome, and same-day service is available.

What's the difference between an alignment and balancing?

An alignment adjusts the angles of the wheels so the car tracks straight. Balancing adds small weights so each wheel spins smoothly. A car that pulls usually needs an alignment; a steering wheel that shakes at highway speed usually needs balancing.

Can a bad alignment cause vibration?

Not usually. Vibration more often comes from unbalanced wheels, worn tires or a bent rim. A bad alignment typically causes pulling, an off-centre steering wheel and uneven tire wear.

Do I need an alignment after getting new tires?

It's a good idea, especially if your old tires wore unevenly. An alignment protects the new tires and helps them last longer.

Do I need an appointment for an alignment?

No. Walk-ins are welcome. You can also book ahead online or by phone.
