Brake repair in Kamloops

Updated

What's included in a brake inspection?

A brake inspection at LSG Auto Nation in Kamloops checks the pads, rotors, calipers, brake lines and fluid at every wheel. We measure how much pad and rotor life is left, look for leaks and sticking parts, and tell you what needs doing now and what can wait, with a quote before any repair begins.

How we can help

  • Brake pad replacement

We measure pad thickness at every wheel, then replace pads that are worn close to their minimum. We clean and lubricate the slide pins so the new pads wear evenly, replace worn hardware and bed the pads in on a test drive. You only pay to replace what's actually worn.

  • Brake rotor replacement

Rotors that are below minimum thickness, warped or deeply scored cause vibration and longer stopping distances. We measure each rotor against the manufacturer's specification and replace any that are out of spec, so the new pads have a smooth, true surface to grip.

  • Brake caliper repair

A sticking or leaking caliper can make the car pull, overheat a wheel and wear the pads unevenly. We check every caliper for leaks and free movement, service the slide pins and replace any caliper that is seized or leaking.

  • Brake fluid service

Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, which lowers its boiling point and can corrode parts inside the system. We check the level and condition, and when it's due or contaminated, we replace it with the fluid your vehicle specifies and bleed the brakes so the pedal feels firm.

  • Brake line and hose repair

Age, rust and winter road salt can crack rubber hoses and corrode metal brake lines. A leak means a soft pedal and less stopping power. We inspect the lines and hoses along the whole system and replace any damaged section.

  • ABS warning light and ABS repairs

ABS, the anti-lock braking system, stops your wheels from locking up in a hard stop. If the ABS light comes on, your normal brakes usually still work, but ABS may not. We read the codes and test the wheel speed sensors, wiring and ABS unit to find the cause.

Brake Repair FAQ

Why are my brakes squealing?

Many brake pads have a small metal tab that squeals as an early warning when the pad wears thin. Squealing can also come from glazed pads or missing hardware. Either way, it's worth having them inspected.

Is grinding worse than squealing?

Usually, yes. Grinding often means the pad material is gone and metal is rubbing against the rotor, which reduces braking and damages the rotor. Have it checked as soon as possible.

Do I always need new rotors with new pads?

Not always. We measure the rotors, and if they're within spec and not warped or badly scored, they can often be reused. If not, replacing them gives the new pads a proper surface to grip.

What does a soft brake pedal mean?

A soft or sinking pedal can point to air in the lines, a fluid leak or a failing master cylinder. It affects your ability to stop, so drive carefully and have it inspected right away.

How often should brake fluid be changed?

Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time. Follow the interval in your owner's manual; many manufacturers recommend changing it every two to three years.

Can my brake repair be done the same day?

Same-day service is available for many brake repairs, such as pads, rotors and fluid service. We'll confirm the timing with your quote, before any work begins.
