Engine repair in Kamloops
Updated
What engine repairs do you do?
LSG Auto Nation in Kamloops diagnoses and repairs engines for all makes and models, from oil leaks and failed gaskets to misfires, noises and loss of power, right up to major internal repairs. We find the cause first, explain what it will take and give you a quote before any work begins.
How we can help
Engine noise and performance diagnosis
Knocking, ticking, rough running, smoke and loss of power all have a cause we can find. We listen to the engine, scan for fault codes and run the tests the symptoms call for, then explain what's wrong before any repair.
Oil leak repair
Oil spots under the car or a burning oil smell usually mean a leaking gasket or seal, often at the valve cover or oil pan. We find where the oil is coming from and replace the failed gasket or seal before a small leak becomes a bigger problem.
Major engine repair
When an engine has serious internal wear or damage, we find the failed part and explain your options, from repairing it to replacing the engine, with a quote for each so you can decide what makes sense for your vehicle.
Timing belt replacement
Many engines have a timing belt that must be replaced at a set distance, often somewhere between 100,000 and 160,000 km. If it breaks, the engine stops, and on many engines it causes serious internal damage. Check your owner's manual, or ask us whether your engine has a belt or a chain.
Engine replacement
When an engine is too badly damaged to repair, replacing it with a good used or remanufactured engine can cost far less than buying another vehicle. We explain your options and give you a price for each before any work begins.

Engine Repair FAQ
What does engine knocking mean?
A knock can be caused by low oil, the wrong fuel, carbon build-up or worn internal parts such as bearings. A deep knock that gets louder as the engine revs is serious, so stop driving and have it checked.
Is an oil leak serious?
A slow leak isn't an emergency, but it should be fixed. Oil dripping onto hot exhaust parts can smoke or even catch fire, and running low on oil damages the engine. Keep an eye on your oil level until it's repaired.
Why is there blue smoke from my exhaust?
Blue smoke usually means the engine is burning oil, for example because of worn piston rings, worn valve seals or a faulty PCV valve. Thick white smoke with a sweet smell can mean coolant is getting into the engine. Both need checking.
Should I repair or replace my engine?
It depends on the damage, the vehicle's age and value, and the cost of each option. We explain the choices and give you a quote for each, so you can decide.
How long does an engine repair take?
Same-day service is available for many engine repairs, such as gaskets, seals and ignition parts. For major work, such as an internal repair or engine replacement, we'll give you the timeline along with your quote.
