Fluid services in Kamloops

Which fluids does my vehicle need changed?
Besides engine oil, your vehicle runs on several other fluids that wear out over time: coolant, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid, and, on AWD and 4x4 vehicles, differential and transfer case fluid. LSG Auto Nation in Kamloops checks them and replaces them at the intervals in your owner's manual, so the parts they protect last longer.
How we can help
Coolant (antifreeze) flush
Coolant keeps your engine from overheating in summer and from freezing in winter. Over time it loses its ability to protect the engine and can let rust build up inside. We drain the old coolant, refill with the type your vehicle needs and check for leaks.
Transmission fluid
Transmission fluid cools and protects the gears inside your transmission. Old fluid can cause rough or slipping shifts and shortens the life of the transmission. We replace it with the exact fluid your manufacturer specifies, along with the filter where there is one.
Power steering fluid
If your vehicle has hydraulic power steering, old fluid can make the steering feel heavy or noisy, especially on cold mornings. We replace it and check the hoses and pump for leaks. Many newer vehicles have electric steering, which needs no fluid.
Brake fluid
Brake fluid soaks up water from the air over time, which can make your pedal feel soft and lets rust form inside the brake system. Most manufacturers recommend replacing it every few years. We flush out the old fluid and bleed the brakes, so the pedal feels firm.
Differential and transfer case fluid (AWD and 4x4)
All-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive vehicles have extra gearboxes, the differentials and the transfer case, that send power to each wheel. Their fluid wears out too, especially if you tow or drive on rough roads. We change it at the interval in your owner's manual.

Fluid Services FAQ
How often do these fluids need changing?
It varies by vehicle, so follow your owner's manual. As a rough guide, brake fluid is often every two to three years, and coolant and transmission fluid much less often. We can check your manual and the fluids themselves and tell you what's due.
Is a flush the same as topping up?
No. Topping up adds a little fluid to bring the level back up. A flush or fluid change replaces the old, worn fluid with new fluid, which is what protects the parts.
Can I use any coolant or transmission fluid?
No. Vehicles need specific types, and the wrong one can cause damage. We always use the fluid your manufacturer specifies.
My vehicle is AWD. Does it need anything extra?
Usually, yes. AWD and 4x4 vehicles have differential and transfer case fluid that needs changing from time to time. Check your owner's manual, or ask us to look it up for you.
Can my fluid service be done the same day?
Same-day service is often available, and walk-ins are welcome. Book ahead if you'd like a set time.
