Auto electrical repair in Kamloops

Updated

What does an electrical system check include?

An electrical system check at LSG Auto Nation in Kamloops tests your battery, alternator and starter, looks for power drains that flatten the battery overnight, and traces faults in wiring, fuses and accessories. We explain the cause in plain language and give you a quote before any repair.

How we can help

  • Battery testing and replacement

We load-test the battery to see how much starting power is left, and check the terminals and cables for corrosion. Most car batteries last about three to five years, and both cold winters and hot Kamloops summers shorten that. When yours needs replacing, we sell and install Canada Proof batteries.

  • Alternator and charging system repair

If the battery light comes on, or the lights dim while you drive, the alternator may not be charging. We test the charging output, the drive belt and the wiring before replacing any parts.

  • Starter repair

A single click or a slow crank with a healthy battery points to the starter or its connections. We test the starting circuit and replace the starter if it has failed.

  • Battery keeps dying overnight

If your battery goes flat overnight, something may be drawing power while the car is switched off. We measure the drain and trace it, circuit by circuit, to the cause, such as a module that stays awake, a light left on or an aftermarket accessory.

  • Wiring, fuses and accessories

Windows, locks, lights and other accessories that stop working often come down to a fuse, relay, switch or damaged wire. We trace the circuit to find the fault, rather than replacing parts on a guess.

  • Lights and wipers

We replace burnt-out headlights, tail lights, brake lights and turn signal bulbs, and can fit LED headlight bulbs where they suit your vehicle. We also replace worn wiper blades, so you can see clearly in rain and snow.

Electrical & Battery FAQ

Is it my battery or my alternator?

If the car starts after a boost but dies again later, the alternator may not be charging. If it won't start after sitting, the battery may be worn out, or something may be draining it. We test both to be sure.

Why does my battery keep dying overnight?

An old battery, a charging fault or a parasitic drain from a light, module or accessory that stays on can all flatten it. A drain test shows which one it is.

Do cold Kamloops winters affect car batteries?

Yes. Cold weather reduces a battery's available power while making the engine harder to crank, so weak batteries often fail on the first cold mornings. A battery test in the fall helps you avoid surprises.

What does it mean when the car just clicks?

A single click or rapid clicking usually points to a weak battery, a poor connection or a failing starter. We test each one to find the cause.

Can you fix electrical accessories like windows and locks?

Yes. We trace faults in fuses, relays, switches, motors and wiring, then give you a quote before any repair.
